Kind of following up on my last post, I’ve realized I may be becoming one of those people that I rant about on a regular basis!
You know the ones I’m talking about… Mr. Dissect-every-little-pixel when discussing an image. And I know who to blame (and naturally, it’s not going to be ME!)

Opinions and a-holes, as they say, everyone has one. However, some (opinions!) are worth more than others.
Why do I say this?
It’s that time of the year again. Weddings. And I start to worry about how do I do wedding/engagement related imagery that isn’t like all the rest. That’s somehow different. I’m photographing Fiona and Kevin’s wedding this year and wanted to do a pre-shoot to get to know them, and for them to get comfortable with me and my style/ability. It was (for once!) a lovely day in the park… despite the flock of killer geese stalking us. I saw the above image on the Sports Illustrated website and thought… wow, what an amazing capture. Then I learn that the photographer wasn’t actually there taking this photograph..kind of.



My Portrait Theory (pt.I – Confidence)
I’ve recently been asked “how do you come up with these ideas” in reference to my Portrait Montage series (you can buy the book by the way).
That led to a bigger discussion on how I personally view, prepare for, think about, and shoot portraits in general and I thought I’d share my views with you… you know, in case you actually care!
Who knows, maybe it’ll give you that push you need to get unstuck from whatever boring crap you may be photographing now (we all get stuck sometimes).
In the end it comes down to three concepts in my approach: confidence, simplicity and personality.
