I love Mexico City. Don't necessarily want to live there, but I looove visiting.
So when the chance came up to photograph a wedding IN the city, you just know I jumped at the chance.
Meet Karina and Javo. You may remember them from a previous photo I showed you in my post on Portrait Theory Pt. II (yes yes Pt III is coming, in fact, this job helped me nail some new thoughts on the issue). Kari works in Marketing for a major multi-national business, Javo is a musician who currently works for a major record label. So, needless to say, they were much much cooler than I and so I immediately feared whether or not I could shoot them "cool" enough.
We started off with a few "traditional" images. You know, the normal cheesy stuff you have to take.
Luckily they were game for anything.. including me having Javo spinning Kari in the middle of the street!
Then, the jumping began. And I promise, they were good and tired when we were done. Good thing Kari had some low top Keds in the same purple color as her wedding shoes.
Then, when the pre-shoot and the ceremony is over, with this sort of couple, the party shots have have have to be awesome. I mean we're talking a wedding party that had an awesome band that played an awesome mix of norteño/raggea/ska/rock music of all original songs (no cheesy covers!) By the end of the set, Javo ended up with the band singing and rapping... seriously, when was the last time YOU went to a wedding that cool? Though so.
All-in-all, a great day with some really cool new images for my portfolio. Thanks guys, that was the hippest wedding I've ever been to!
And here's the video I threw together of the pre-shoot photographs. Check out the very last 4 seconds.. and no, it's not just a ploy to get you watch it all, the ending is cool (in my humble opinion!)
